"Connie's Story" that you see to the left was written about Barbara's plight to escape her abusive husband. If it was not for the Grant County Family Services Society and the local Women's Shelter, Barbara and Carol would likely have died at the hands of their abuser.
The pictures below show Barbara at one of the worst times in her liferi. The first is the second Christmas after she filed for divorce in 1984 and she was safe for the first time in years. The second was the first Christmas in 1983 when she still lived with a .357 under her pillow and continuous fear after she filed criminal charges against her husband.
